Squeteague Sailmakers | General Principals of Sail Making

Local Cataumet Sailmakers, Julia Doyle-Kingsbury and Marc Daniels will share their experiences in sailmaking.  For the last 50 years, Squeteague Sailmakers have built customized sails using state-of-the-art, computer-aided design and plotting equipment, and are still the only CAD-CAM loft on Cape Cod and one of the very few independent sail lofts left in the United States.

James Geil, Former Skipper of Tabor Boy | The 71-Year Legacy of Tabor Academy’s Training Vessel Tabor Boy

Author of Adventures Aboard Tabor Boy, James Geil will discuss his experiences, weather, events and challenges aboard Tabor Academy’s ninety-two-foot schooner Tabor Boy during the author’s thirty-five years of working with high schoolers.  Stories and adventures will range from the rockbound coast of Maine to the US and British Virgin Islands and include vivid accounts of offshore passage making.

Alessandro Bocconcelli, Research Specialist, WHOI | Marine Mammals in Patagonia 

Alessandro Bocconcelli, WHOI Emeritus Oceanographer, will share information from his current project studying Marine Mammals in Chilean Patagonia, South America.  He will discuss the environmental impact of intensive salmon farming operations in the region.

Carol Newman Cronin will discuss the three years of research, writing, and photo finds that went into her sixth book, The Heart of the Hound: Half a Century of Sailing, Camaraderie, and Stewardship.
